Magic in the ordinary
We, as humans, are less inclined to look for the "glimmers" in our lives than the triggers. Glimmers are the opposite of triggers. They’re the little moments that spark calm and connection, when gratitude washes over us and we're glad to be alive. However, through our evolution, we were taught to look for or be aware of dangerous situations to keep us safe and alive. The result of us always looking for the triggers to keep ourselves safe is that we end up seeing only the triggers and not the glimmers. We end up focused on what upsets us, triggers us, rather than the glimmers that always coexist with those triggers. So, today set your intentions to look for the glimmers, instead of the triggers that keep you mired in suffering and struggling. So often, we focus on what’s lacking, what didn’t meet our expectations, or how awful our world seems right now. But we would be a lot happier if we chose to appreciate the little things and recognize the beauty in the ordinary. Today, set your intentions to choose to see the magic in the ordinary. Today, choose to see the "extra" in the ordinary.
Just for today, I choose to focus on the good in my life. I choose to let go of everything that no longer serves my purpose. I choose to make the rest of my life the best of my life. And so it is.
